Our Commitment to Environmental Responsibility

Your reputation depends on getting the job done, and getting it done right. Today, in order to exceed your customers' expectations, not only does your paint need to have great coverage and durability, it must meet a growing list of national, regional, local and customer-driven regulations. Dulux Paints offers a variety of zero- or low-VOC* products, assisting architects, building owners, homebuilders and professional painters in being green. We are committed to offering products that meet the most stringent regulatory standards while delivering the performance you and your customers expect.

Governmental regulations and third-party certifications

Independent of government regulations, third-party certifications promote and regulate the design, construction and operation of high-performance green buildings. These buildings include everything from large-scale commercial structures to individual homes. Each third-party certification has its own set of certification standards and criteria.  Below is a summary of a few of them.

LEED V4 – CaGBC announced a new version of the standard (LEED v4) in November 2013 with implementation by Oct 31, 2016. This updated rating system includes product transparency, whole building life-cycle analysis, and new energy standards - believed to provide a framework for holistic green buildings.  Read more and view a list of LEED V4 Dulux products

MPI – The Master Painters Institute® is committed to high standards in painting. It educates painting professionals and ensures standards through painting inspection, performance-based standards and lab testing. MPI has developed the MPI Green Performance Standard and a “green” Approved Products List that takes into consideration not only VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and their emissions, but performance (i.e durability) as well. To learn more about MPI or view MPI-approved Dulux products, listed under PPG as the manufacturer, visit the MPI website.

MPI X-Green – MPI’s “Extreme Green” (X-Green) certification launched in February 2010 with six new X-Green categories. MPI President Barry Law says “X-Green is the toughest standard in the world, but it’s also the most appropriate because it encompasses the three requirements for a truly ‘green’ paint: indoor air quality, environmental safety, and the durability needed to promote sustainable building practices.”  Take a look at Dulux Lifemaster - our MPI X-Green certified product line
